(POLITICS.) Kent, Corita. Shirley Chisholm: Unbossed and Unbought. Poster, 22 x 17 inches; minimal wrinkling at edges. No place, [1972]

Additional Details

A poster for Chisholm's 1972 presidential campaign, in which she was the first serious Black candidate to seek a major party's nomination. It features a quotation from Langston Hughes. The artist Corita Kent (1918-1986) was a groundbreaker herself, a nun with the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary who improbably broke into the world of pop art at a high level.
